Things To Do in Tiskilwa

Hennepin Canal - Enjoy the great outdoors with fishing, kayaking, and miles of hiking/biking trails​. To visit the Hennepin Canal and Bureau Creek, take East Main Street to outside the village. 

East Park - Located at East Main Street, East Park has a playground and picnic area for all ages. Also located at East Park is the Civil War Memorial monument and recognition of the Potawatomi Tribe that once lived in Tiskilwa. 

West Park - Located at West Main Street, West Park has a playground, picnic area and tennis courts for all ages to enjoy.

Tiskilwa Historical Society - The Tiskilwa Historical Society is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to preserving, displaying, and interpreting our local history. The "Museum on Main" is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Recognized in 2010 as “Volunteer Institution of the Year” by the Illinois Association of Museums, Tiskilwa Historical Society offers six galleries of hands-on experience with Tiskilwa’s colorful past: Native American artifacts; village items including fire department gear; military and school memorabilia; Hennepin Canal construction photos; old farm implements; 20th-century domestic items; a display about the depot and railroads; information on local churches, past and present; toys of the past and quite a bit more!

Pow Wow Days - Tiskilwa, IL celebrates Pow Wow Days every year during the first weekend of August. Pow Wow Days is a four-day event that includes a community concert or big band dancing, children's "Lil' Spurs Rodeo", a parade, a beer garden, 4-H Club and cheerleader sponsored food stands, church-sponsored lunches, historical tours, antique automobiles, tractors and many other events.

​Princeton (5 miles) - Recently named as the 3rd most charming small town in Illinois by purewow.com! Princeton offers a variety of shopping and dining. Princeton also is home of: Festival 56, a theatre that hosts year-round productions; The Red Covered Bridge, one of the 5 remaining covered bridges in Illinois; Lovejoy Homestead, a National Historic Landmark and home of Reverend Lovejoy who was a congressional leader and assisted with runaway slaves. In the summer months, Princeton hosts free Main Street Concerts with a variety of genres, The Z Tour Bike Ride, Beef and Ag Days, The Bureau County Fair and Homestead Festival. Finally, Princeton also has an Amtrak stop for those wanting to take the train to the area. 

Starved Rock State Park (32 miles) - Starved Rock State Park is characterized by the many canyons within its 2630 acres. Located just southeast of the village of Utica, in LaSalle County, Illinois, along the south bank of the Illinois River, the park hosts over two million visitors annually, the most for any Illinois state park.
